The EZP Coming Soon Page WordPress plugin is good to use for new launches/maintenance or when the site needs to be offline for a while. The same developers you made the backup/clone plugin Duplicator has made the Coming Soon Page plugin. The user interface is easy to understand, and the maintenance screens look really nice.
